Last weekend while it was snowing here in Toronto I was basking in the sun and heat of Key West.  We packed in a whole lot of activities in our short stay – it was a wonderful weekend.

We stayed at Azul Key West right in the old town. It was perfect – centrally located, great breakfast and a salt water pool! Michael was great – he checked us in, made us feel at home and booked us on one of our excursions. He really wanted to be there and must love his job since he always had a smile on his face.

So what did we do in our 60 hours?

Rented cruiser bikes to get around the island – from Duval St to Mallory Square – we rode around the entire weekend, day and night! It was great.

Jet Ski Tour was so much fun and refreshing to do in the middle of the day! Check out all the places you can jet ski in Key West. I think we used Key West Jet Ski but I don’t remember for certain!

Trip Advisor recommends The Tropic Cinema so we stopped in one night for amovie. Saw The Emperor with Tommy Lee Jones – great movie and a cool spot to see it in. If you have the time and want to catch a flick, I recommend.

Hemingway’s Home was a fascinating trip back in history to the time when Hemingway enjoyed the Keys.  Highly recommend, even for non-fans.

After Hemingway’s home we trekked over to Hemingway’s  favourite watering hole. Captain Tony’s is the original spot of Sloppy Joe’s – what it was known to Hemingway as. Try the Pirate Punch – it is tasty but three might be one too many!

Danger Charters was how we finished our weekend.  We went out on their sail boat and spent the afternoon snorkelling, kayaking and just enjoying being out on the water.  The staff on this charter is amazing and Kayla our guide knew everything about plants, birds and fish in the area.

I think I will create another post to cover off the amazing meals we had while in Key West! What a great 65 hours it was!
